Week 4: Images 11- 15

Summary
For this weeks task we were asked to create a persuasive poster on a cause that was important to us. I decided to create a poster that shed some light on the important jobs that fire fighters do, especially at the moment in Australia with all of the bush fires. I chose to include a slogan on the poster that could be used as a call to action. "Gather the Clan, make a fire Plan" starts a conversation for the view and the people around them and ensures they know what they would do if a fire was to impact their life. In the final design the slogan is written in Arial bold, this is because it replicates the writing that Queensland fire fighters actual have on the back of their uniform which is a similar font.

Process
1. I began by brainstorming ideas for posters and came up with the first three sketches below.
2. I decided to develop the first design using Adobe illustrator.
3. I then exported the final design and put it into photoshop to create the black and white version.

Materials
Artline 0.8 fine point pen
Adobe Illustrator
Photoshop
The image above is the 1st design and shows a fire fighter with its back to us, looking into a massive fire. Then the slogan is on the back of the fire fighters back in the same place that Queensland fire fighters have the words "Fire Rescue Queensland", the quote is written in the same fornt .
The image above is design two, it is similar to the first design but have the heads of three fire fighters at the bottom of the poster. it it obvious that they are fire fighters because of the hats that they wear which are very unique. The main focus in the poster is the fire rather then the first fights and the slogan is meant to be coming out of the fire almost like its written in the smoke. The slogan is written in a more rounded font to represent this.
The image above is the third design is is more different to the other two. This poster doesn't have a fire fighter in it but you can see the big hoses that they use. The water coming out of this hose is the main focus of the poster, taking up a large about of it and the slogan is written inside the water, using a bubble like font.
The image above is the final design for the poster in full colour. Red and orange were used for the fire and a light brown and tan colour were used for the fire fighters uniform, these are similar to the offical Queensland fire fighting uniform. The Queensland fire rescue logo was added so that it was clear to the view what the poster was about.
The image above is the final poster in different shades of grey.
